Napag-alaman na ang katas ng horn snail o mas kilalang bagongon ay posibleng epektibo laban sa pagkalat ng cancer cells, ayon sa pag-aaral ng mga pharmacy students mula sa University of the Philippines Manila.
“Restriction of the tumor growth by Telescopium telescopium maybe due to the antiangiogenic activity of the compound rather than direct tumor cell killing ability,” saad sa pag-aaral.
Sinubukan ang antiangiogenic activity ng horn snail sa isang fertilized duck egg kung saan naobserbahan ang mga blood vessels,
“Based on the results, after treatment with a certain concentration of Telescopium telescopium extract, blood vessel size and length were reduced at a significant level. Growth of new blood vessels was inhibited, thus also inhibiting angiogenesis,” ayon sa abstract ng pananaliksik.
