Duterte signs law creating senior citizen commission

President Rodrigo Duterte has signed a law creating a commission for the elderly.
Republic Act No. (RA) 11350 established the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) to replace the National Coordinating and Monitoring Board.

The measure directs the NCSC to ensure the full implementation of laws, policies, and programs of the government pertaining to senior citizens; formulate policies for the promotion and protection of their rights and well-being; conduct information and education campaigns to raise awareness on the rights of the elderly; and represent the Philippines in international functions, forums and other conferences involving senior citizens.

Section 3 of the law provides that, the Commission shall be under the Office of the President and shall be composed of a Chairperson and six Commissioners.

Duterte signed RA 11350 last July 25.
