Vice President Leni Robredo couldn’t help but feel uneasy about the sudden surge in arrival of Chinese nationals in the Philippines.
Robredo on Friday (April 26) questioned the motives of the Chinese coming to the country, noting that they may be taking away jobs from Filipinos.
Kasi parang bigla. Parang bigla iyong pagdagsa,” she said in an interview in Palawan.
With reports of Chinese working in online gaming companies in the country, Robredo remarked that the Philippines appears to be the new destination for Chinese to do what is prohibited in China.
“‘Di ba, malaking insulto iyon sa atin na ipinagbawal nga sa ibang bansa, iyong bawal sa kanila dito sa atin gagawin,” she said.
Robredo expressed hope that the government will be stricter in allowing the entry of Chinese nationals in the country, particularly for work.
