Who leaked resolution of Acierto’s drug case? Guevarra wants to know

Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra wants to know how the resolution of the drug case against dismissed Sr. Supt. Eduardo Acierto was leaked to the media.

Guevarra believes that the leak of the resolution which approved the filing of charges against Acierto and his co-accused may have jeopardized operations to have the former police official get arrested.

A manila court has already issued arrest warrants against Acierto and seven of his co-defendants after charges were filed by the Department of Justice (DOJ) concerning the 2018 smuggling of billions of pesos worth of shabu using magnetic lifters.

“He has been hiding since the Senate blue ribbon committee chaired by Sen. [Richard] Gordon investigated the magnetic-lifter drug smuggling cases,” Guevarra said.

“I suppose that leaked information of his impending arrest made him hide all the more,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Guevarra he has tasked Acting Prosecutor General Richard Anthony Fadullon to conduct the investigation of the leak.
Acierto has been accusing former presidential adviser Michael Yang of being involved in the illegal drugs trade.
