Manny Pacquiao is set to take on American Keith Thurman for the World Boxing Association welterweight super title on July 21 (Philippine Time).
"This summer just got a little hotter!" Pacquiao, the current WBA regular champ, said on his social media accounts in formally announcing the bout.
With the two WBA belts to be "unified" for the said contest, Pacquiao's belt will be considered vacant.
Thurman holds a perfect 29-0 record with 22 knockouts.
His last bout, however, was a majority decision win against fellow American Josesito Lopez on Jan. 27 (Philippine Time) at the Barclays Center in New York City.
Thurman was fresh from a two-year layoff due to injuries in the said bout.
A former unified champion, Thurman vacated his World Boxing Council welterweight belt due to the sabbatical, although he got to keep his WBA super belt. (PNA)
