Jack Animam then joined the party, muscing her way down low as the Philippines held on to a 15-12 lead heading into the final minute.
Animam powered Gilas Women's with five points, as Castro got three.
Bernardino and Janine Pontejos both wound up with four points each as the Philippines finished day one unbeaten at 2-0 in Qualifying Draw A.
The Filipinas are looking to book the ticket to the main draw when they wrap up their assignment on Thursday against Vanuatu.
Yu-Chun Wei topped Chinese Taipei in the losing effort with five points.
