Regine Velasquez ain’t proud of lashing out at Locsin: Just thinking about Mother Earth

Regine Velasquez has admitted she isn’t proud of bashing Foreign Affairs Teodoro “Teddyboy” Locsin on Twitter, even if her remark on China’s poaching of clams in the South China Sea earned the support of fans.

In a series of tweets posted Thursday (April 25), Velasquez sought to end the controversy caused by her comment to Locsin by saying she merely wanted to protect the earth.

Last week, Velasquez expressed her dismay at Locsin’s seeming disinterest on protesting China’s actions by tweeting that she thought the Foreign Affairs Secretary was smart.

“Ang akala ko pa naman matalino ka. Ako ay simpling tao lamang na may simpleng pagiisip. These people are invading our territory they are not just taking food sinistral nila ang ating karagatan!!!!” she tweeted on April 19.

Close to a week after her controversial tweet, Velasquez said she found her remark about Locsin “disrespectful.”

“I answered a tweet that for me was disrespectful to all of us but didn’t realise that I was disrespectful of him too. I’m not proud of that. But still this is about people destroying Mother EARTH. it’s the only one we have and so let us love and protect Her,” she tweeted.

While Velasquez thanked fans who lauded her tweet to Locsin, she also urged them to do their share in protecting nature.

“But for now let us all focus on healing and forgiving each other. Sa ngayon I think mas makakatulong tayo kung gagawa tayo ng isang bagay para sa ating kalikasan kahit maliit na bagay lang……. Ang hindi magtapon ng basura kung saan san. Maging responsible tayong lahat at magtulungang panatiliing malinis at maganda ang ating kapaligiran,” she said.
