Palace: Ouster plot matrix came from Duterte

By Prince Golez

The matrix linking various Filipino journalists behind the oust Duterte plot came from President Rodrigo Duterte himself, a Palace official said.

“Source of that is from the Office of the President, from the President himself. I don’t know how (Manila Times) got one, but it’s coming from the President. I talked to him the other day,” Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo told reporters.

A matrix published on The Manila Times dated April 22, 2019 showed a list of media organizations – the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism, Rappler, the National Union of People’s Lawyers, and Vera Files – supposedly spreading anti-Duterte stories to discredit the present gvernment.

In a media briefing in Malacañang on Monday, Panelo revealed that the Chief Executive got the matrix from “one of his sources.”

“I am not even surprised that there is such a plot. If you notice this has been going on, the pattern is clear, false news, and then transport to another, then it circulates, so I am not surprised at all,” the chief presidential legal counsel added.

Asked how Duterte will counter such destabilization efforts against the government, Panelo said: “The counter propaganda is the achievements done by this administration. The result, as you have seen, is the very high satisfactory and trust rating of the President, surveys after surveys.”
