By Prince Golez

President Rodrigo Duterte has left the country Tuesday to attend Beijing’s second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation from April 25 to 27.

He departed for China from the Villamore Air Base in Pasay City at 3:35 p.m.

In a statement on Duterte’s participation of Duterte in the two-day forum, Malacañang on Wednesday said the President will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping to Premier Li Keqiang on April 25 “to take stock of key developments in bilateral relations and regional affairs.”

On April 27, the Chief Executive will be one of the lead speakers at the Leaders’ Roundtable.

Prior to the forum, the President is also scheduled to meet Filipino and Chinese business leaders “to explore ways of further enhancing two-way trade and investments.”

“The President’s participation reaffirms the Philippines’ commitment to work with partners in the region to further enhance regional connectivity and economic integration in order to advance the country’s development agenda and sustain regional growth and development,” the statement read.
