Wala munang pulitika: Sara Duterte cancels Hugpong rally in Bataan after Luzon quake

By JOHN CARLO M. CAHINHINAN

MALAYBALAY CITY, Bukidnon – Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte has cancelled the scheduled proclamation rally of senatorial candidates supported by her influential political entity, Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) in Limay, Bataan after the strong earthquake that rattled parts of Central Luzon on Monday.

Mayor Duterte, chair of HNP, said in a statement that its better for the party not to purse their upcoming campaign caravan in the town of Limay on April 26 so that the people of Bataan can focus solely on their recovery efforts following the magnitude 6.1 earthquake that jolted Zambales and the rest of Region 3.

“We deemed it best to cancel the Limay, Bataan rally on April 26 to allow Pampanga and Bataan to focus on their post-incident activities. Thank you,” said Mayor Duterte.

The Presidential daughter already expressed her deepest condolences to families of the quake victims in Pampanga.

Pampanga was the province severely damage by the Central Luzon quake since it was underlain by soft sediment, according to Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) director Usec. Renato Solidum.
