Kalampag works! Manila Water fine should go to consumers, Colmenares says

Senatorial candidate Neri Colmenares has called on the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) to give the Manila Water fine to consumers still reeling from water interruptions.

Colmenares said the P1.134 billion peso fine imposed on Manila Water was a direct result of the continued vigilance against corporate abuse.

“We welcome this decision of the MWSS Board to fine #ManilaWater. But the billion-peso fine will go to gov’t. So what about the consumers? How will they be compensated for having SUFFERED in the hands of terrible, privatised water services?” he tweeted.

“Kalampag Works! And the louder it is, the quicker the positive outcomes in favor of the people. So now our call is for MWSS to decide that this billion-peso fine on #ManilaWater actually goes to consumers who are STILL suffering water interruptions to this day,” he tweeted.
