President Rodrigo Duterte got his enemies all mixed up as he slammed the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism (PCIJ) over the video linking his youngest daughter, Veronica or Kitty, to the illegal drug trade.
In a speech in Batangas on April 17, Duterte said the public should not believe the PCIJ’s supposed report about his daughter.
Nagamit si Kitty? Video links Duterte’s youngest child to drug trade
“Huwag kayong maniwala niyan nitong mga PCI. Pati ‘yang anak kong si Veronica… ‘yung isa, 14 years old, ginawang drug lord ng report ng PI. Bastos,” he said during PDP-Laban’s sortie.
He vowed to come after the group for linking Kitty to the illegal drug trade.
“Tapos pati ‘yung anak ko durugista daw. ‘Yung si Veronica 14 years old drug push — ah drug lord. Mga stupid proposition ninyo. Kaya kayong — bababuyin ko rin kayo, sigurado ‘yan,” Duterte said.
However, the allegation that Kitty was linked to illegal drugs came not from PCIJ but from alias “Bikoy,” the whistleblower featured in the video “Ang Totoong Narco List.”
One of the episodes of the video series claimed Veronica was one of the recipients of multimillion-peso payoffs from a drug syndicate. The money was supposedly deposited under the name, Veronica Salvador.
