President Rodrigo Duterte said he will also go after barangay captains allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade.
In a speech in Batangas City on April 17, Duterte warned that barangay captains who are into the illegal drug trade will experience the grisly end that some so-called “narco politikos” have met.
“Sa panahon ko marami nang nanalo mga barangay captain, almost 53,000 — 44,000 barangay captains. Mamamatay rin kayo. Huwag kayo mag-alaala. Susunod kayo,” he said during PDP-Laban’s sortie.
“Maaabutan ko rin. Maniwala ka maaabutan ko rin kayo. May three years pa ako. Ubusin ko talaga kayong lahat para wala ng problema ‘yung next generation. Prangka-prangka tayo,” he added.
Duterte cited slain Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog and former Albuera Mayor Rolando Espinosa as examples of politikos who died because they were allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade.
The President said drug lords and other criminals should not believe they “have the monopoly of evil in this country.”
“Huwag mo talagang akalain na ikaw lang ang marunong. Kaya mong pumatay ng lima? Kaya ko ng sampu. Depende lang kung sinong mauna sa atin,” he said.
