President Rodrigo Duterte hasn’t forgiven Manila Water over the water shortage last month that caused inconvenience to thousands of its customers in Metro Manila and Rizal.
In a speech in Batangas City on April 17, Duterte expressed exasperation over the supply shortage in Manila Water’s service area for more than a week.
“I have this message for them. Bakit hindi ninyo inayos long before the summer? At bakit ninyo patayin ‘yung tubig?” he asked the Ayala-owned water concessionaire.
“Kaya sabi ko, I don’t know but pagka binitawan ko ‘yan, well, bahala kayo. They are really f***** the Filipino people,” Duterte added.
The President recalled that the water crisis only ended when he issued a threat for the concerned officials to shape up.
Bantay kayo.’ Pagka noontime labas na ang tubig,” he said.
Duterte previously ordered the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) to demand that Manila Water and Maynilad release water good for 150 days from Angat River in order to resolve the water crisis in Metro Manila.
